When firing a TrackingPoint firearm, a “lock” is when you place your crosshairs on your target set a “tag.” The system recognizes the object you want to shoot, as well as the point of impact you’ve tagged. As soon as you lock on, the onboard computer uses those measurements to calculate the firearm’s precise point of impact, then snaps the crosshairs to that tag.
